Both Your Houses received the Pulitzer Prize in 1932-33. A young teacher from Nevada is sent to Washington DC as a Junior Senator. Idealistic and naively sure of the honesty of his fellow congressmen, he discovers himself caught in a web involving graft, perjury, and other political misdeeds. He receives an education in American politics he didn’t expect, and finds enemies and allies in surprising places.
Both Your Houses will complement the exhibit on politics, “Shaking Hands and Kissing Babies,” which will be on view at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society’s exhibition from May 3, 2008 to Feb. 22, 2009.
